Miguel J. Nolla, P.E. obtained his BSCE from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (CAAM), in 1928, and his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from Cornell University.

During the summer of 1942, he started his own construction company, providing his service primarily to the Federal Government’s Defense Department; at the outbreak of the US involvement in WWII.  At the early stages of federally funded public housing developments, he built projects at Isabela, Lares, Aguadilla Guaynabo & San Juan, among others.

In 1948 he was partner at Méndez, Grillasca, Nolla, Galib & Márquez.  This partnership developed in 1952 into a restructured company known as Nolla, Galib & Co., which at the time was composed of Miguel Nolla, Jacinto Galib and Joaquín Márquez.  At a later time Miguel J. Nolla became principal and owner of the company now known as NOGAMA CONSTRUCTION CORP.

In 1964, NOGAMA CONSTRUCTION CORP. joined the newly founded Puerto Rico Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). He was elected to the Board of Directors and served as President for 1965-66. He was the first recipient of the Maxwell-Upson Award which, at the time, was the highest award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the construction industry presented by his peers at the Puerto Rico Chapter AGC.
